Hey kids, we know this is super last minute but we have been tasked with paying $1333.17 for 2 SFPD officers to monitor the event. We’ve never been asked to pay this before, but the money is due TODAY! We knew that some of the costs this year might exceed our donations from you guys, but this one puts us as organizers in dangerous territory of ourselves being on the hook potentially for atleast a few thousand dollars.

Hey everybody,

Just wanted to give you a heads-up, the SF PD will be out checking ID’s this year to make sure that anyone that is drinking is of legal age. As always, while we don’t stop you from drinking, we sincerely ask that you do not drink at the event. If an office approaches you and asks to see your ID, you better have it. On, or off big wheel because they WILL issue you a citation if you are under age.

Please help us keep the event going by not drinking if you are underage. If you are of age, probably shouldn’t be drinking or doing anything else either. Up to you, as you are a free person in this wonderful city where we get to do crazy s*** like this, but we’re asking you not drink.

Registration Opens (or you know, do it digitally to save time. Online Reg end at midnight on April 7th. You can still race, but you have to sign a waiver day that day. A total drag. So do it online. NOW.)

We’re recommending a $5 donation that you can do through our PayPal account or on the day of the race (you’ll get asked in our confirmation e-mail, sorry). We don’t like asking for it, but it looks like we’re going to be short a $1,000 this year if we don’t. None of the organizers make money on this thing, we do it cause you love it. So if you got anything you can spare, it will go to good use. And you can check out our list of expenses at this link.

This is a pack it in/pack it out event everyone! Please! Whatever trash you bring, take it home so we can keep the park and street amazing and continue to be allowed back every year!

Police will be out checking ID’s for underage drinking! So, per our usual request, don’t drink.

STILL TOTALLY FREE, but we love donations to help cover increasing yearly costs (port-o-potties, insurance, permits…. but again TOTALLY Free. If you love us as much as we know you do we’d love $5 bill, spare change, $2 bills, Mexican pesos, South Korean won, and if the one lady that came last year that only watched but gave us $20 could come again, ma’am you are a saint, we love you. Hope to see you this year. Lastly STILL TOTALLY FREE, but we love cash based affection.)

It’s official! After months of work and mountains of paperwork* the race is on! Come hell or high water (literally, weather.com says it’s supposed to rain) BYOBW ’11 is happening!

Make everyone’s lives easier and please download the waiver for here and bring it in all ready filled out. You’ll get through to race much faster.

If you don’t want your big wheel after the race and it is still in good shape, the San Francisco Fire Department will be on site to accept any big wheel they deem acceptable for future kid use. If they don’t want it, please, take it home to your trash can.

Just wanted to drop a quick line and say that our permit hearing with ISCOTT, which will determine whether or not we can close the road for the event this year, which BTW is scheduled right now for April 24th at 4pm.

We’ll keep you up to date, but like many times before we usually don’t become “official” till about a week before the event. So keep your fingers crossed! And keep your eyes peeled for the announcement video!
